Part 1 – Introduction To The Seven Chakras

As an empowerment coach I often look for energy blocks that my clients may be experiencing. In 2020 I’m going to discuss the seven basic chakras. We’ll explore the energy around each chakra, what happens when it is out of balance and methods to heal any energy blocks. In this newsletter I’ll give you an overall view of the seven chakras and explore each one individually in subsequent newsletters.

The first chakra is the root chakra and is at the base of your spine and resonates to the color red. Issues for the Root chakra revolve around safety and survival and help to connect you to earth.

The second chakra is the sacral chakra and is located just below the naval and resonates to the color orange. The issues are related to the sexual organs. This chakra relates to creativity and sensuality.

The third chakra is located in the solar plexus and related to the color yellow. The issues related to the third chakra have to do with how confident you are in the world.

The fourth chakra is located in the heart and relates to the color green. The heart chakra is related to relationships, compassion and forgiveness.

The fifth chakra is located in the throat and is associated with the color blue. This chakra relates to how you find your voice and speak your truth.

The sixth chakra is often referred to as the third eye and is located in the middle of the forehead and is related to the color indigo. The sixth chakra relates to the intuition and spiritual living.

The seventh chakra is located just above the head and is referred to as the crown chakra. This chakra is related to the color violet and helps to connect your physical body to your spiritual being.

Imagine each of these energy centers in your body and during this month notice when there is discomfort or blocks and look at the issues that are going on in your life to see if there is a connection to your physical body.

Part 2 – Healing Of The Chakras – The Root (1st) Chakra

Why learn about chakras? Last month I introduced an overview of the chakras which you can read here. When any of these energy centers are blocked we become out of balance physically, mentally or emotionally which can manifest as anxiety, illness or trauma. It’s important to recognize when you are out of balance and learn methods to clear the energy.

The first chakra is the ROOT of your energy field so it’s important to keep it clear in order to have a healthy energy flow to the other chakras. The energy center associated with the root chakra is located at the base of your spine, resonates to the color red and is associated with issues of survival, basic security, and connection to earth. This chakra is associated with your earliest time on earth and affects your sense of belonging and how safe you feel in the world.

When the root chakra is balanced we feel safe, grounded, and confident. When our first chakra is out of balance we feel insecure, fearful, and vulnerable.

Symptoms of an out of balance root chakra:

You survival needs, such as money or food are constantly challenged in a way you can’t seem to control.

You usually feel insecure in the world and you are afraid to speak your mind in your work or relationships.

You feel fearful in the world because you have a weak support network and insufficient resources.

HEALING: Grounding yourself is essential for healing the first chakra. If weather permits sit on the ground, hug a tree, dig in a garden or play in the sand. Literally plant yourself on the earth. If that’s not possible at least sit on the floor, pay special attention to house plants, or cook something delicious.

You want vital energy from this chakra to feed the other chakras. Make yourself vital by moving the lower half of your body. Each foot fall connects you to the earth in a different way than sitting on the earth.

Review your core beliefs about the security you deserve. For example, you want a good job, but a little internal voice says that you will always be prevented from acquiring the good job. Listen to your self-talk about your place in the world, not the voice that says what you want to manifest, but your ingrained belief about your place in the world. The ingrained belief will attract more attention than what you are trying to create.

Write down the ingrained negative beliefs you hear in your head. Then create a new, positive message that reinforces the positive belief you want to establish in your life. When the old message sneaks in reframe a new message that supports you.

Insecurity is an ongoing challenge that needs special nurturing on a daily basis. Find people who support you and your goals. Every day make a list of what you did RIGHT and honor yourself for being good. This activity can take months or even years until you feel safe and secure as it attracts people and situations that you will trust.

There are many tools available for assist in healing your first chakra including red stones, jewelry, meditations, music, essential oils and so much more. However, until you decide to do the work to reframe the internal messages, the tools will not help.

Be intentional!

Part 3 – Healing Of The Chakras – The Sacral (2nd) Chakra

Learning about the Chakras helps you become aware of how these energy centers relate to your life energy flow, and how to clear them if they are blocked. When there is a block we feel unbalanced in areas that relate to specific Chakras.

This month, I’m discussing the second, or Sacral Chakra (read about first Chakra here).

The second Chakra is located at the bottom of the spine and just below the belly button. It is associated to the color orange, the element of water, and the sound of vam.

In your life energy, the Sacral Chakra relates to sexuality, creativity, personal power, intimacy and pleasure. Symbolically, the second Chakra is about the cycle of birth, life and death.

When your second Chakra is open you feel excited about life, you likely are open to new experiences and motivated to discover things about yourself and the world. A healthy Sacral Chakra attracts healthy relationships with yourself and others, and healthy sexual experiences.

A blocked or unbalanced Sacral Chakra will often show as emotional issues around intimacy, flexibility, guilt and shame. An unhealthy second Chakra can manifest as sexual dysfunction, addictive behavior, or depression.

As this Chakra relates to personal power and passion, explore what’s keeping you from expressing your personal power. Write down the beliefs you were taught as a child. What of those beliefs are no longer appropriate for you as an adult? What beliefs have kept you from feeling passionate joy? What are your beliefs about creativity, sexuality, power, passion, your looks, or anger?

Examine your self-talk to discover the messages you frequently repeat to yourself, such as, “I’m so dumb and ____,” [fill in the blank]. Replace that negative self-talk with affirmations such as, “I am smart about organizing events and ____,” [fill in the blanks].

It can be useful to have physical reminders when you are working to remove the blocks and open the Sacral Chakra. For example:

Carry orange stones such as calcite, carnelian, citrine or jasper. Moonstone is also good as it relates to the element of water.

Eat orange foods such as oranges, cantaloupe, carrots, mango, sweet potato, salmon, apricots, or peaches.

Create something that reminds you of a healthy Sacral Chakra. The act of creating is a sign of an unblocked second Chakra so anything you create will help heal your chakra.

Additional healing methods for all of the Charkas include sound therapy, acupressure and acupuncture, art therapy, yoga and massage.

Part 4 – Healing Of The Chakras – The Solar Plexus (3rd) Chakra

There are basically seven energy centers in the body which we refer to as chakras. All of the chakras work together and when one is blocked your life accompishments and health may be affected in areas related to that chakra. Understanding the energy of each chakra can help you live a happier life.

In the last two newsletters we’ve explored the first two chakras which you can read about https://judythsult.com/here. In this newsletter we’ll explore the third chakra.

Third chakra signs of balance: Confident, motivated, purposeful, reliable, responsible

Third chakra signs of imbalance: Aggression, overly dominating toward others, low self-esteem

The third chakra is called the Solar Plexus or naval chakra and is located near the belly button. The third chakra is associated with the color yellow, the element of fire, the stones citrine and tiger eye and the sound Ram.

A healthy third chakra presents as a person who is confident, productive, and has good self esteem. This is where your sense of personal power resides. When the third chakra is balanced you feel empowered. An empowered person is willing to take responsibility for her own well-being, is able to set and enforce personal boundaries, and is able to convert intention into action.

When the third chakra is blocked the symptoms often manifest as a digestive disorder, a lack of confidence, and an inability to get things done.

Rituals for healing the third chakra

Activate the healing of this chakra by lighting a candle and meditate on the element of fire and what creates the fire of passion in your life. Think of ways to keep that fire burning.

Wear something yellow, even if it’s only underwear. Carry citrine or tiger eye stones or jewelry.

Make a mantra of repeating the word RAM over and over.

Make a list of your goals and create steps to take and a timeline to complete the goals.

Identify what boundaries you need to establish with others and explain the boundaries in a clear and positive way

Most of all, know that you deserve to be empowered to live your life fully. Contact me if you need help healing any of your chakras.

Part 5 – Healing Of The Chakras – The Heart (4th) Chakra

4th Chakra – Heart

Chakras are energy centers in our physical body. For our purposes we are looking at the seven chakras that start at the genitals, then move up to the pelvic area, and to just behind the belly button. These first three chakras relate to how we physically are in the world.

The 4th chakra is at the heart and lungs. The heart is at the center of the seven chakras and integrates the physical with the spiritual. The chakras above the heart chakra are the throat, the third eye (behind the forehead) and the crown, just above the head.

A healthy, well balanced 4th chakra is indicated by a person who has healthy relationships, is accepting, is compassionate, and understands forgiveness of self and others. An unbalanced heart chakra can attract poor relationship choices, lack of compassion, and a poor concept of boundaries

The energy of an unbalanced heart chakra can attract physical illnesses related to the heart, lung or breast. Coronavirus most often attacks the lungs, and often the heart. Below, I’ve offered methods you can practice to strengthen your heart chakra.

Ritual to clear your heart chakra

Acknowledge your gratitude. Our culture often encourages us to feel something like arrogance when we express what we are grateful for, such as a nice car or a special talent. It’s sad because feeling grateful for what we have and who we are opens our heart. Here is a ritual I’ve suggested for Thanksgiving, but any time is a time to give thanks. The ritual can be accessed here.

Practice forgiveness. Forgiveness is paramount to having a healthy heart chakra. Include yourself in this ritual of forgiveness. This is an extremely powerful ritual if you have been wronged by someone, or if you have acted in a way you regret. Forgiveness ritual can be accessed here.

Combine color and healing. The color related to the heart chakra is green, which is also the color for healing. Integrate green into your wardrobe, jewelry and environment. Make a practice of noticing the many shades of green in your life. Every time you see green say the mantra, “My heart is healing.”T

Part 6 – Healing of the Chakras – The Throat (5th) Chakra

The fifth Chakra is located at the throat and when this Chakra is open you communicate clearly and with confidence. The throat Chakra connects the lower four Chakras to the spiritual sixth and seventh Chakras.

Collectively, the first four Chakras have to do with emotions and the fifth Chakra is how you express your emotions. A blocked 5th Chakra manifests as difficulty in expressing thoughts, anxiety, excessive chattering or insecurity. A blocked 5th Chakra can also manifest as physical symptoms such as frequent sore throats, jaw or neck issues, hearing problems or dental issues.

Ritual: To heal your 5th Chakra, sit quietly and put your attention individually on each of the first four Chakras. Determine where there might be blocks and ascertain how those blocks relate to how you communicate. The 5th Chakra is associated with the color blue, so wearing a blue scarf or necklace can be helpful. Imagine a blue light coming through your crown Chakra and flowing throughout your body. See where the light seems to fade or become distorted. Send healing energy and love to that area (reiki can also help to align and clear the Chakras).

Part 7 – Healing of the Chakras – The Third Eye (6th) Chakra

The 6th Chakra is often referred to as the Third Eye and it resides just above the eyebrows. This chakra is said to be the center of your intuition that lets you “see” from a higher consciousness.

Your Third Eye is open when you feel in the flow, where your life seems to come together in a pleasant productive way. Your intuition leads you and often gives you information that is in your highest and best good. When your 6th Chakra is open you are capable of receiving communication from your guides in the form of inner wisdom and understanding.

When your 6th Chakra is out of balance it can manifest as indecision if there is no clarity in the chakra. On the other hand, an out of balance Third Eye can also manifest as spaciness and an inability to ground in the world.

To bring this chakra into balance try meditation, receive Reiki, or go for a walk in nature. Talk to your guides and tell them what you want at this stage of your life and tell themhow they can help you.

Part 8 – Healing of the Chakras – The Crown (7th) Chakra

The Crown Chakra is at the top of the head and, when it is open, is the opening to communication with your spirits and guides. When the 7th Chakra is open you feel a connection to humanity and creativity. When this Chakra is open you feel in the flow of life and in harmony with those around you.

When your Crown Chakra is blocked you are likely to feel aimless or disconnected from the world. You may have tension headaches or have trouble getting restful sleep. You are likely to lack creativity and a sense of purpose.

Ritual: This is the exercise I use at the beginning of my Reiki healings to prepare my client to open and clear the Chakras. As the light moves through your Chakras it picks up any negative or outdated emotions and feelings.

Sit quietly where you will not be disturbed. Close your eyes and imagine a purple light coming from the sky into the 7th Chakra opening at the top of your head.

Follow the light as it moves through your head, behind your Third Eye and then flows into your throat at the 5th Chakra, giving you the courage to speak your truth.

The purple light continues down your body to your shoulders, arms and hands. At your chest, the purple light surrounds and soothes your Heart Chakra, giving you the strength to forgive and release negative thoughts about others. The light continues to your 3rd Chakra, reminding you that you have positive impact on the world.

The purple light moves to the 2nd Chakra that allows you to reconnect with family and reminds you that we all do the best we can do. Finally the purple light goes through your 1st Chakra, letting you know that you are safe. The purple light moves out of your body and into the earth, taking the residue left from cleaning each of the 7 Chakras.
