Is Reiki Right for you?

I’m often asked what Reiki is and how is it useful? Reiki is a clothes-on, hands-on gentle healing method for emotional and physical discomfort. It is not a religion or belief system. The touch is very light and respectful of the person’s body.

According to a report by the Univ. of Minnesota “Reiki is a complex process that engages many body systems, simultaneously or in quick succession, shifting the body from domination by the “fight or flight” (stress) response to the relaxation response, and supporting the body’s own healing mechanisms.”

In my own practice my clients have reported remarkable results for easing grief, relieving pain, and restoring energy.

Reiki can be used to:

  • Recover from grief
  • Balance the Chakras
  • Strengthen the immune system
  • Relieve pain
  • Relax and reduce stress
  • Restore energy
  • Promote self-healing

I have found that there is a real benefit for people who are beginning to receive Reiki to sign up for three sessions within a two week period. The reason for this is that the Reiki energy has a chance to really set in and maintain a level of flow. After the initial three sessions the visits can be scheduled further apart.

Reiki compliments, but does not usually take the place of, medical care. It can ease the pain of a broken bone, but the broken bone still needs medical attention.

Does Reiki help with chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia or arthritis?

I’ve done healings for several people with chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia, arthritis, and chronic fatigue,

I’ve found the most effective method is to start with 3 sessions in a two week period and then gradually lengthening the time between sessions until a maintenance schedule can be determined.

By far, the best results for my clients have been for chronic fatigue. One client expressed it best, “After a Rieki session I feel more energy and ability to focus. I’m more sensitive to my body’s needs and now I make sure to not become too depleted before another session.”

Clients with fibromyalgia and arthritis have reported mixed results regarding the relief from pain. However, they describe a higher quality of energy and the ability to focus. While the pain may not subside, it seems to be more in the background than the foreground.

The bottom line is that Reiki can improve the quality of your life.
