December Birth Stones

Since 1912 the official U.S. “modern” birthstone list has been the American National Association of Jewelers, which is used by jewlers to define the month stones. Two other lists include the mystical birthstones which are originally from Tibet and date back over a thousand years. The Ayurvedic birthstone list is the oldest, dating from 1500 B.C. in ancient India.

*Modern – Turquoise is considered to be a sacred stone by many cultures and to have powerful healing powers to help center a person, relieve stress and moderate excesses. Many Native Americans,Tibetan healers and shamans use turquoise in healing and ceremonies to support clarity and enhance trust.


Mystical – Black Onyx
is considered to be one of the most powerful stones for protection. It is said to absorb negative energy and can be used as a talisman to avert the drain of personal energy. It can also be used near doors and windows to protect against invasive negative energy from outside. Black onyx is especially good in times of stress and grief and can help relieve confusion.


Ayurvedic – Ruby

Ruby is said to be related to sexual and life passion, strength and physical energy. It can be used to boost your energy level, intuition and spiritual insight. It is sometimes considered to be a good luck stone because it represents good fortune, love and loyalty. Ruby can help to motivate your intentions and goals.
