For those of you in or near Bellingham this Friday, please come by our Tarot of Empowerment art show at the Lucky Monkey (312 Champion St), 6pm to 10pm, September 2 where you will have a chance to see some of Gordana’s original paintings, greeting cards, prints or giclee art.
Many of you know from my Facebook page that I attended BATS (Bay Area Tarot Symposium) earlier this month. It was exciting to show our deck to other readers, authors and artists and I was thrilled with the encouraging response to our deck. It was wonderful to spend time with Tarot aficionados including Mary Greer, James Wanless, James Wells, Ellen Lorenzi-Prince, Devara Publishing, Michael Jackson and so many more – AND it was a perfect opportunity to wear a tiara!
Look for some fabulous guests from BATS on my radio show the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. The next show is September 10.
The Tarot of Empowerment major arcana deck is almost complete. I’m offering two Major Arcana workshops. Below is an article about the value of using only the major arcana.
Update BATH RITUAL. I received a record number of comments from people who did the bath ritual for forgiveness in the last issue. A few people who don’t have access to bath tubs asked for alternative methods. You could take a meditative walk or run and forgive as each foot hits the ground. Imagine the situation you are forgiving being pounded deep in the ground. Release every situation and every person with each step, even those you love. Then, take a scrub in the shower when you get home and ask the angels and guides to allow reconnection with those who love a support you.
The most important thing in doing this ritual is to forgive yourself as well as others. Forgiving yourself allows the healing to begin.
Blessings and hugs,
J
The Major Arcana Punch
A traditional tarot deck has 78 cards, so why would a person only use 22 of those 78 cards?
There are two major reasons; 1) it’s a good way to learn the archetypes and the relationship of the numbers, 2) it’s a good way to answer the essence of a spiritual or long term questions.
The Major Arcana cards tell a story that represents the stages along the journey towards self-awareness. The energy of these cards in a reading has a more profound impact than do the minor arcana. The major arcana draw from the collective unconscious represented by the archetype. Using the Major Arcana gives your reading an extra punch.
You can see the significance of using only the major arcana with a simple 3 cards spread. Think of an unresolved significant issue in your life. Pull a card that represents
1. You and the issue
2. The obstacle in the way to solving the issue
3. Your course of action to resolve the issue
When you only use the major each card is significant in a way that provides a depth of meaning beyond using both the major and minor arcana cards. There are some readers who only use the major arcana for every reading and there are several decks of only major arcana.
We are releasing a very limited number of major arcana Tarot of Empowerment decks at the end of 2014 or the beginning of 2015. I am offering workshops on using only the major arcana cards this fall. Please email me for information.
