Once again, we are at the beginning of a new year, a time often associated with hope for the future. January is traditionally when people make resolutions to make changes in their lives by calling in something new or releasing habits that are detrimental to their health and/or happiness.
I wish each of you the best for 2017. For many, this year, and the next four years, will be a challenge. I urge you to not despair, but to become engaged in your local community and in causes that are important to you. Be willing to step up for what you believe in and to stand up for those who become marginalized.
In numerology 2017 is a universal 1 year (see article below). This is the energy of new beginnings so we will all see new approaches, innovations, and ideas. Let’s agree to respond with thoughtful consideration and support those new concepts that support your values.
Blessing and peace,
2017 Predictions Based on Numerology
The Universal year is determined by totaling all of the digits in the current year: 2+0+1+7=10. We then reduce the 10 to a single digit and get the number 1 as the universal year. As the name implies, the energy of the universal year applies universally as the overall theme of the year. Each of you has a personal year which is based on the month and day of your birth and added to the universal year.
In numerology the 1 year is the beginning of a nine year cycle. The last 1 year was 2008 when Barack Obama was elected President, the first black President who had optimism and dreams for the future. In 2008 we saw the beginning of the global economic meltdown that causing an attempt to bring new regulations to financial institutions. Last year, 2016, was the last year of the 9 year cycle and we saw the end of the Obama administration and many of the hopes he held for the future.
The 1 energy is characterized by the desire to become independent, to exhibit strong leadership, and to experience new situations. The 1 energy is enormous and has significant ego. Hence, when we are in a 1 year there are many egos trying to be independent and to push their own agendas. When Obama came into office he was met head on by opponents who had their own plans for the future and his plans were largely defeated.
I anticipate that Trump will encounter similar egos as he tries to move his agenda forward. Trumps personal year, based on his birth day and month and the universal year (6+14+2017=2037=12=3) is a 3. The 3 energy is pretty charismatic and expansive. (In contrast, Obama’s personal year in 2008 was a 4, which is usually very restrictive.) In a 3 personal year a person can juggle a lot of projects and is very creative. People in a 3 personal year feel expansive and open to new adventures. This is very much “play time” as people in the 3 energy explore the meaning of joy in their lives.
With these number combinations I predict that during all of 2017 Trump will have innovative approaches to his office and different aspects of his life. He will redefine what it means to be President and how the job will be done. Trump’s reluctance to delegate because of his ego, along with being opinionated and stubborn, is where he will be the most vulnerable.

Cards for 1 year: Magician, Wheel, Sun.
Art by Gordana Curgus
The Magician employs each of the four elements to manifest his desires on this earthly plane. Each element symbolizes an aspect of life: air for thoughts and communication, fire for spirit and passion, water for emotions and relationships, and earth for money and health. The Magician uses his force of will and control to bridge the spirit and physical world. He uses each element appropriately.
Empowerment: As the Magician, know what it is you want, for you are empowered to call it to you. Focus your attention on what you want to manifest on this earthly plane.
Understand you call on your magical powers doing harm to none.
The Wheel of Fortune reminds us of inevitable changes in life. The circle is a constant reminder that everything goes around and comes around. There are always new beginnings and final endings as we circle around.
At the center of the Wheel of Fortune in Tarot of Empowerment is the earth, over which is drawn the symbol of the endless knot symbolizing that everything is a part of the whole and that there is an interrelationship of all things. The Wheel of Fortune and the endless knot have no beginning or end.
Raven, who signifies freedom and eternal life, can also become Trickster, transforming the situation by rotating the Wheel of Fortune. The crystals ground the energy with compassion and understanding, while the nautilus reminds us of the integration of knowledge, beauty and spirit. The Wheel of Fortune incorporates the unending mystery which connects all things.
Empowerment: The Wheel of Fortune indicates that you are in sync with the Universe so pay attention to what it is trying to tell you. Times will change, and this is your opportunity to prepare for your future. Change can be very difficult for people who have a strong desire to control. The wheel will spin, and it is time for you to decide how you will accept and respond to the turn of the Wheel of Fortune.
The Sun card represents positive energy that assures good things are here or on the horizon. Restrictions and doubts are removed, replaced with promises of success in your ventures or relationships. The illusions from the Moon have been illuminated.
The Sun is central to our place in the universe. In a like manner, it symbolizes our “self” in relation to the whole of our private universe. It triumphs in the light of each day and surrenders to the dark of night.
In Tarot of Empowerment, the Sun depicts a strong, confident woman sitting in a field of clematis, the flower representing mental beauty. The woman looks towards the sun in thanks for shining its light of confidence and courage, knowing that she is blessed by the Universe and on the correct course at this point on her journey.
Empowerment: You are empowered with a strong yes to your query and by the joy the Sun brings to you. Believe and trust that the Sun will shine success on your hopes and dreams. Have confidence in your decisions and actions.
New Year Ritual
4 Steps to Claim 2017
At the beginning of a 1 year it is important to do ritual because you will be planting the seeds of the energy for the next 9 years.
1. Write down everything you want to release as you are going into the new year. Make your list, add to it if needs be, and when the list is finalized burn it. Release the ashes and say something along the lines of, “I release the old and transform the energy that I’ve given to these things into positive energy for change.” When anything you released comes into your mind quickly say, “Release.” It may take a while for the energy to dissipate because you have the habit of having certain feelings around those issues you released.
2. Clean your livingspace getting rid of clutter. Be willing to move items to the next deserving soul, even if you need to take it to something like Goodwill. Once the clutter has been reduced put sea salt in water and sprinkle it around each of your doorways and windows saying something like, “Salt and water as I pass thee, no friend nor foe may there be, except in true accord with me.” In other words, you are asking for protection from anyone who does not have your best interests in mind.
3. Take a bath with Epsom salts to cleanse your body. As you wash your body keep repeating, “I forgive and release.” Let any pictures that come into your mind move to the next like a slide show. Do not stop and analyze them. Remember to forgive yourself along the way.
4. Make a list of what you want to manifest in your life. Repeat the words of power, such as, “There is one power, the perfect power. I [your name] call on the perfect power to manifest the perfect [relationship, money, job, whatever] for me in harmony with my highest and best good.”
